UVW tag Phong issue
Most likely bad UV mapping. If it was a normals thing the problem would still be visible in the last two images. -

UVW tag Phong issue
It's very hard to tell without either the file or the UV map ! I would certainly need to see the latter at a minimum to know where the seams were meant to be. It is possible that this mesh depends on the Normal Tag to surface properly, but maybe not if it was created in Cinema originally. Aside from things like checking Use edge breaks is off in the phong tag and checking the normal directions of the polys in the mesh there isn't much more to suggest without adding a Normal Tag back, and manually editing / checking to see what the Normals are doing along that line, and averaging them to each other using the Normal Editor if they are wrong. In View settings make sure you are viewing vertex and polygon normals to get the clearest idea of what is going on with your mesh. CBR -

UVW tag Phong issue
Hi, I have bought a Shark model of Turbosquid that was created with r14 apparently. It opens fine, but there is some issue with the UVW and/or Phong tag it seems. It had a Normal tag on it aswell, which I removed without it making any noticable difference. At first I thought it was the texture that was poorly painted and showed the seems, but after removing it the same problem is still there, and only goes away after I remove the UVW tag. Any changes made in the Phong tag does not have any effect at all. The mesh seems ok and in one piece. So it makes me think that the UVW tag is the culprit, but why is this? Does it have some Phong information or such built in? And most importantly, how can I fix this? -
