  1. LAB Golf Spot May 2021 Particularly rewarding project this one - modelling initially, then over to my good buddy KC for some Octane rendering, then back to me for the musics...
  2. Welcome indeed, and happy 3Ding πŸ™‚ CBR

  6. Yes, we have the jobs board, which is for advertising work you are offering, but currently nowhere to specifically solicit work, which we ask you not to do in the jobs / marketplace sub-forum. For that, Introductions is probably the best bet, as well as having a completed profile which lists your skills in the 'about me' section, and appears there with any showreel photo albums you may have created when people check your profile. Check mine for an example of this CBR

  8. Yeah, gotta second DF there. Art should reflect all aspects of humanity from the very lightest to the very darkest shades, and all the levels and complexity in between... personally the reds in a splatted brain, (and even a gratuitously splatted one sometimes !) are still somewhat artistically justified in my book because of the reaction they provoke in us - after all is that not what art is aiming to do; provoke a reaction ? And not all reactions have to be nice... and arguably, perhaps we learn and grow the most from the ones that aren't ! I think if there is any place in the world where extremes should be permissible, or rather untrammelled, art is it. CBR
  9. Very much looking forward to this. I loved all of S1, and thought they did OK to balance light and dark subjects across the season.. Roll on S2 πŸ™‚ CBR

Also very cool, but needs a denoise pass or higher render settings maybe ?
  11. Yep - impossible to please all of the people all of the time. We all care about such different things. Some of the people, some of the time seems to be the most anyone can hope for πŸ™‚ CBR
  12. I hope so. Or maybe the marble will go Red to match ?!!! (All comparisons to the Eye of Sauron not withstanding).
  13. As cubes with M's in them go, that's quite a sexy (by which I mean geometrically rewarding) one, but I'll miss the little blue glass swish-doodle - I really liked that ! 😞 CBR
  14. May I temporarily divert you and this thread with 2 (hopefully) very quick easy questions about that while you're here ? 1. Am I right in thinking symmetry doesn't apply in the stack yet ? 2. Is it possible to just paint in a seletcion of polys to use in that stack ? Many thanks CBR
  15. There we go ! Someone else who appreciates the brilliance of that ! lols πŸ™‚ CBR
  16. @FLima Please don't take anything I say as a personal attack on your opinion, or as trivialising your frustrations - I do understand them, and share them in some cases (symmetry most notably) ! I too have paid an astonishing amount of money for Cinema over the years, and I am not immune to the frustration caused by things not working as they should, or not being addressed until the long(er) term. But I just see so many people being negative on release day, I just want to be one of the people pointing out the positive things that there are, and like I said above, I find enough of those on an ongoing basis to keep me generally happy. I realise of course that won't be the same for everyone... CBR
  17. Yep, I'd have to second that. They really do listen, and there's a hell of a lot of people shouting for their attention, so I reckon they do quite well to listen as much as they do ! πŸ˜‰ CBR
  18. Well no, not really ! As primarily a traditional modeller, Cinema already does nearly everything I want it to (some notable exceptions remain, but most have adequate workarounds and I am quite patient), and continues to look better while it's doing it with every version ! Broadly speaking, they fixed modelling around R18, Nodal Materials arrived, Volume building got integrated, they fixed UVs more recently, Fields got introduced (which was fundamentally massive for me) and I have never hated Physical Render as much as everyone else seems to ! My renders in that don't take all night, and with a little optimisation and attention to settings I still get pretty reasonable times out of it, so am not even massively unhappy there ! I also quite like the tech preview approach because it means we can all hit the ground running when it's fully implemented, and see what the future has in store, which, for me at least is GENUINELY promising because it is a serious leap forward in terms of things I care about like procedural, and stack-based modelling and the idea of a single integrated nodal approach, as long as it doesn't happen at the expense of traditional modelling tools, which I hope always remain and are not neglected in the longer term. So whilst yes, I understand the frustration that people feel about lack of big new exciting things in every version, I find my happiness with the program relies on that sort of thing less and less all the time it remains a supremely comfortable and familiar place to work. It's the little things that make me smile every day. CBR
  19. I think this is actually a very helpful and promising update. Very exciting future modelling things going on over in Scene Manager (Modifier Stack anyone?). Lovely new Viewport (Direct X at last) so no more jaggy poly lines, all the brilliant scatter and placement tools, (which people have been wanting for a while), the live dynamics of which are massively helpful, and rather a lot of very welcome smaller changes, fixes and improvements to existing every day / quality-of-life stuff. Personally, I like it. CBR

I also have a wireframe gallery here, which has the wires for this in it. Yes, this was an SDS model.
