  1. Just wish it was not expensive to get back into C4D, by far most comfortable and favorite but too expensive for Studio as a hobbyist :(
  2. Everything has been sold.
  3. That is technically a VDI solution, which differs from a desktop virtualization solution. Usually with VDI there are more options to provide GPU functionality and enhancements but that is only if they have GPU installed within their farm.
  4. It is the starter kit that is included http://insydium.uk/product/cycles-4d-starter-pack/

    Turbulence FD

Is Turbulence FD still the way to go? Worth the investment? I know Houdini can do all of that but not sure I can tackle that monstrosity.

    Cycles for C4D

This is a subjective reply, Octane feels faster to me, Cycles IRP causes C4D to run slow at times (I am using a 980TI/1070 setup). I really enjoy working with Cycles in terms of Mat setup, or scene setup. I like the look of Cycles and feel it compliments my Octane purchase
  10. After I disabled the "Progressive Refine" under performance>Tiles the speed was greatly improved
  11. Bingo, that was the big impact to time delta, thank you. @21 samples with progressive refine unchecked it dropped to 21s I will update original post
  12. Double checked that tile size is 256x256. I played around with the samples and I could get it down to 17 or 18 instead of 21, but anything less introduced too much noise IMO. @17 samples 1:03 @18 samples 1:19
  13. As always I caveat my tests with settings might not be the most efficient. Same scene, changed from Cycles4D to Octane. 980TI/1070 combo Top image is Cycles4D @21 samples 21s (256x256 buckets with no "progressive refine") Bottom image is Octane @512 max samples DL 14s
  14. Wanted to test out SSS and emission, find it very easy to work with. First image was straight out of C4D, 2nd one was after some post PS work. Took 22s @23 samples with 980TI/1070 GPU combo
  15. Dave is there anyway to get the material ball as a download? Appreciate the free scenes
  16. So I am just starting to dig into the engine, going through documentation and videos, can almost guarantee my settings are not optimal yet but following some recommendations they give in the documentation. I have a 6/12 core CPU and 980TI/1070 GPU setup. Can find some test renders here: https://scjester31.artstation.com/projects/6P58n I used some of the sample scenes provided (x-particles in this case)

    Cycles for C4D

My understanding was that the Substance integration was limited due to the licensing structure around blender and cycles, for some reason it prevented it from happening.

Some engines have material converters, Thea for example does a good enough job converting mats to get you going in the right direction.
