  1. i wouldn't say it's a waste of time, at least as a set of skills you can use for yourself. That being said i find it interesting with the hypocrisy surrounding ai "art", i've seen on several social media outlets authors and writers using ai to create cover art, story boards etc with absolutely no regard for traditional artists, whether 2d/digital or 3d having no problem with it, then throwing their toys out the pram when people use ai to write books, scripts and so on. i find it extremely ironic as someone who's workload has been affected by the writers strikes, as many of us have, which in part was due to concerns over studios using ai to displace certain roles as well as pay and other issues, that they can't see the wood for the trees when it comes to this topic as a whole. As if ai will stop at images and not progress to other areas. The naysayers downplaying the significance of things like this will change their tune when ai starts impeding on their given industry/hobby/past time etc. just today on reddit someone made a post asking about ai tools that can create 3d models from prompts in the 3d modelling subreddit, as if it's not a massive slap in the face to every member of that sub who's spent years learning said 3d modelling skills. i think what initially started off as somewhat of a gimmick which non of us really took seriously, in reality could change everything as we know it. it's not going away. People have legitimate concerns, and there's weight to those. It can be challenging as it is to get modelling work these days, a lot of it is farmed out to india, or countries in eastern europe. where labor is far cheaper. i have absolutely no doubt that if/when good enough results are achievable from things like this, it will certainly displace roles, Or alter them to more of a supervisory role, where you're tasked with any minor clean up that may be required. initially i thought it may have certain uses as a tool in some applications, but it's hard to invision where this would fit in without stepping on someone's toes down the line.

    Toon Car

Maybe both ? 😂 I did consider doing the exhaust in post, actually used some spheres and the volume builder for it !

Finally got around to finishing this old car model i started about 5 years ago XD never got around to rendering it either, this was a fun little evening project 😄
  4. i use redshift, but to be fair I could still pump that in to a shader, I’ve done it on a few occasions when I didn’t / couldn’t be bothered to unwrap it. Lmao handsome squidward ! I was gonna do him afterwards 😄
  5. didn’t want to unwrap it, although i’d only of needed to do the head really , might go back and unwrap it, and paint some extra details around the face at the same time. Answer is it depends, for stuff like this where he doesn’t need to change, I won’t model the entire body. So for this I made the head and neck, modelled the shirt separately, then modelled the bottom half, again that’s not attached to any torso underneath and stops shortly past where the shirt covers. if I plan to change clothes or do other stuff with it, I may model the entire mesh, then use that to make the clothes with afterwards
  6. Fun little sunday project. few complex poles on the edges of the forehead grooves which i'm giving myself a pass on, on this occasion XD
  7. Ideally it could most likely just atomically be put through a remesher and be good enough, automatically unwrapped and textured etc. although you’re probably right in that it might not even be needed. which ever way you spin in, iterating time and changes on the fly will be implemented way faster than any human being could do, along with the fact that it can be running all day long 24/7 , 365 with out breaks, with out the need for it to be paid etc. It’s actually kind of astonishing how quickly we’re accelerating towards this. You can almost feel the corporates rubbing their hands together in anticipation. I know there’s a lot of nay sayers down playing the significance of Ai displacing peoples jobs and such, dumping it in the same boat as all the other conspiracy theorists. But I think it’s pretty clear autonomy will change things one way or another, i honestly can’t see it stopping at just being a tool to aid people.
  8. This is cool, although it’s pretty overwhelming how quickly this type of technology is progressing. It I’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for text based prompts to 3d to become useable with out considerable clean up by a human. with the ability to iterate on designs almost instantly, with clean results and minimal human involvement it I’ll be a massive turning point going forward.
  9. Yea I can when I’m home this afternoon, the mesh is mostly fairly low poly with the exception of the cupcake case.
  10. Could be tempted to remodel depending on how detailed it is
  11. 😂 thanks man! Had a blast with this last night !
  12. Robro cop, who's down with OCP? All the Homies!
  13. HAHA, Glad you like it Phil. the reflection is actually an hdri, ( really it's a secret facility, located somewhere in the super confidential maxon underground bunker !
  14. one wire frame , albeit a tad late 😄
  15. maybe make the eye shape less rounded, bring the inside upper lid towards the corner, down a little so they're a bit less rounded, and increase the height of the outside corners, something like the example. Generally the less rounded and more angular the eye, the more "evil" it looks, you could also add an additional loop at the base of the eye, to sharpen the base of the lid and make it more pronounced. i'd also add a bit more bulge to the bottom lid ( yellow line ) which should give him less of the friendly look.
  16. No problem! you could still do it how you did before, but you'd probably need to lower the density of the eyelids a bit, and fix the poles at either end of the eye corners. still i think it looks alot cleaner if its all one mesh 🙂 Ha yea! back in the day before they implemented that we used to use the points to circle script, or using something like a disk with snapping enabled , or bevelling a point. i still use the bevelling point bethod occasionally 😄
  17. Hey Gazz, not as much work as you might imagine, you could lower the topo on the head some to make it easier, otherwise you could select some polys where the eyes are currently do an inner extrude, then fit circle command, then delete the selected polys and shape to your liking. which will essentially give you some nice oval/circular holes where the eyes are currently, delete the old eyes, loop select and extrude to bring out a ring of new polys to start forming your new eye lids, extrude a couple more times and shape as necessary. should end up with something like whats pictured below, you can add/remove loops around the eyes as necessary for a clean deformation. topo along these lines should be good, might need another loop or 2 around the base between the eye and the nose in the event of it distorting the area where the nose attaches near the inner eye, hope this helps some , V p.s you can also add some more diagonal loops near the corners of the eyes if you want to sharpen them up a little, more like your existing eye shape.
  18. wires in coming !
  19. Thank you so much man ! HA ! of course man i'll dig out some wire frames/ clays !
  20. Finally got around to slapping some materials on this droid head i modelled a while ago !
  21. thanks bro! pretty happy with how it turned out !
