  1. Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to point out the error in my ways.

I'm following steps in a Coloso course for mastering c4d.

You get the skin of a model and separate some sections of the head. These sections will be animated later to reveal cybor interior.

All good cutting and placing the kitbash stuff inside the head.

Place the  different bits as children under the Mixamo bone rig

    Head in normal pose

But any rotation or movement on the head the bits come apart as though they're on different axis or something

My heads wrecked, but if anyone knows what I can check would be much appreciated!

This should answer all questions about PlantCatalog.

Thanks for the great videos and help with previous queries Daniel.

I've been on a 3D hiatus in recent months so I'm looking forward to trying out Plant Factory/Vue.

    It's a bittersweet feeling I must admit.

Extremely generous of Bentley to allow full access of the software and resources to everyone compared to how Isotropix handled their ending with Clarisse.

Yea I’m gonna go grab a copy when I get a chance, don’t be too harsh on the write up XD  tutorials are definitely not my forte but considering the constraints didn’t come out too bad.

    Oh don't stress about that!

I personally just enjoy seeing overview of different techniques with pictures.

For detailed tutorials I'd be online or dedicated books

  4. I enjoyed his interactions on the livestreams.

There are a few really good reps for Maxon on those livestreams so I think from purely virtual perspective they're in good hands.

Am sure anyone at conventions or IRL with deeper connections will feel the impact more with him not at those in future.

    Hi!

I'm a student of interactive design here at the University of Western Bohemia. Ive been dabbling in the dark arts of Cinema 4D for several years, but one still has a lot to learn. Im excited as to what new information I can learn in this community!:)

    Best regards,

    Kuba

    Very welcome Kuba

Best of luck on your journey!

  6. Yeah it's presented poorly.

They should have separate C4D and Redshift boxes with the combo offered after choose to buy one.

It inevitably will happen that Redshift will be bundled with C4D as a single rental.

Maybe they're just waiting until the last of the perpetual Redshift maintenances expire next year.

I hope this topic hasn't already been discussed, apologies if it has…

I just wanted to ask what peeps here think about C4D's future. The reason I ask is having spent a bit of time on the internet and looking for work all I seem to see is Blender and Unreal coming out on tops all the time with Maya in there too. There seems to be a distinct lack of C4D mentioned or asked for. Plus I keep getting told learn Blender, learn Unreal…

Personally I am fed up with learning new DCCs and quite happy to continue using C4D but I have a feeling that I might get left way behind. I would love to know what others here think?

Just out of interest which area were you searching for work in, film, tv, advertising?

I'd imagine C4D's still used predominantly in advertising.

I think Unreal still requires a DCC to bring the assets and animated objects etc. in from.

Also it was recently announced Unreal will be going subscription. Will be interesting to see what price point they decide and what kind of impact that will have

  8. I found pCloud very good. When I had fast broadband in the city pCloud was perfect for Team Render as all machines had the P drive mapped. There was a handy backup and sync between machines as well as ability to expand cloud space.

I use OneDrive for documents and music. It has a 1TB limit though so I don't use it for renders or other large data.

Oh yeah, that's a major bummer for spaceship fans everywhere, and a good few others besides I imagine.

Wonder why he didn't just limit it to 1024 x 1024 for free, and charge a small fee for higher res ?

People would have paid that I reckon... I probably would have done...

    CBR

From reading his rant he didn't want to set a charge for what people actually valued.

He wanted people to look at his other work which people obviously didn't value.

It's a common thing to happen.

I serched for JSplacement because I remembered how cool it is only to find the webpage has a disaponting message.

Later I found a Reddit thread with a reply to a similar post:

That's very sad. I really hopped for a new version or something after all this time since I last used the app before formatting my PC.

I've found the app in the internet archive if anyone is interested.

and two similar web-based apps :

    https://morenicogs.github.io/Nicogs-JSplacement/index.html#

    https://xdisplacement.netlify.app/

The second sentence labels entire user base abusive and disrespectful.

Made something available for free then complains for not getting any money or appreciation in return. Blames every other person for their own poor decisions.

After reading that I'm glad I didn't use it often.

Wish them the best in future endeavors!

The technology Clarisse "invented" more than 10 years ago is now implemented in more flexible and powerful softwares. Handling massive amount of data is no longer an issue. Unreal does it perfectly, in real time (with Nanite, World partition,...). Clarisse simply became irrelevant. There's no valid reason to use it anymore...

When it was first released, we all tested it, we all were amazed by it, but nobody adopted it. It was a curiosity...

Certainly feel like getting squeezed to use Houdini, Unreal, and Blender.

Most of the renders I've seen from Unreal are very "computer game" looking which I don't like.

Will spend some time on it as I could have the wrong impression.

Getting pretty tired of this constant learning new software tbh. I might just decide to stick with what I have and when they stop working so be it.

  12. Isotropix have ceased new sales of Clarisse iFX.

No public announcement yet, but maybe tomorrow or next week.

They released a Service Pack (SP12) which removes node lock on licenses for existing customers and will allow installs on two separate machines for perpetuity. Will provide bug fixes but no new features for the foreseeable future.

Alarm bells went off when the Isotropix staff and CEO just disappeared without warning from the Discord channel yesterday, removed IG, Facebook profiles, and multiple videos from YouTube. Also removed Early Access installs of Clarisse that had their hybrid GPU/CPU render engine Angie.

People that work in studios relayed word into Discord channel throughout the day of phone calls from Isotropix to their studios of an upcoming announcement, but light on details.

It was a pretty niche software that had small amount of large clients with DNEG, ILM, Dreamworks, Marvel and other studios using it on different projects.

    😩
