  1. The Get Element node you use doesn't have a Data Type set. From the moment the user selects one of the options it's impossible to empty the selection unless he undo or creates a new node. Is this node intended to be created without a default Data Type ? Is an empty Data Type supposed to read any kind of input without implications? The user Manual does not document this type of parameter.
  2. That makes more sense from HRVOJE's approach. I like that.
  3. Thank you for shearing the graph. The Type Of node is created automatically when connecting the Distribution to the Decompose Container... I just used the example of the user manual about that distribution node. I just assumed that what ever is created automatically is necessary and went with it. It's really hard for me to wrap my mind around the philosophy of how information flows in C4Ds nodes. I'm a simple mind. I expect this:
  4. This is supposed to work, but it doesn't. I don't know why nodes are so busted... Probably they aren't but the user manual is outdated with the examples. So I propose the following elegant parametric solution using the PyParametric tools and the PointObject script: extrude and follow.c4d
  5. The 03 Advanced node example Inflate.c4d from the Asset Browser has errors. Get Points Error: Errors: 'Normalize / Input' (net.maxon.node.normalize@NRrd9S_bMJogMwWy98WbfG<in): No conversion possible from type 'Array<Vector64>' (net.maxon.parametrictype.vec<3,float64>[]C) of source port 'Get Points' (net.maxon.neutron.geometry.get@YXFP6wVQDFNrCkuUkvApaF/get>array) to type 'Vector64' (net.maxon.parametrictype.vec<3,float64>). Normalize Error: Errors: 'Normalize / Input' (net.maxon.node.normalize@NRrd9S_bMJogMwWy98WbfG<in): No conversion possible from type 'Array<Vector64>' (net.maxon.parametrictype.vec<3,float64>[]C) of source port 'Get Points' (net.maxon.neutron.geometry.get@YXFP6wVQDFNrCkuUkvApaF/get>array) to type 'Vector64' (net.maxon.parametrictype.vec<3,float64>). What should I do ?
  6. I like software boxes. They give a sense of ownership prestige and internet independence.
  7. How much did it cost back then ?
  8. Look what I found ! I don't understand German well... so what was Maxon doing back in 1996 ? Download here : https://ia601806.us.archive.org/35/items/maxon-develop-4/MaxonDEVELOP 4.pdf it's a slow download (115MB)
  9. Do you mean this tree ?
  10. Thank you, my mind is still in classic C4D thought process and when I use nodes for a specific task I end up looking for nodes related on the same category for until I complete that editing part.
  11. Let's say I want to edit an object using two selections. How am I supposed to to merge those concurrent edits to the final Geometry Op ? Some more questions: I used the Store Selection Node to name a selection. Is this node supposed to make a named selection visible to any other node connected or not ? So far I have the feeling that named selections are not meant to be used in the node editor.
  12. That Axel guy might not be good at making showreels but he does know how to make good commercials. Channel idents and cars, this must be the pinnacle. Having your work being viewed again and again on the course of a single day for the rest of the year by millions...
  13. That's so on the point ! I'm almost never satisfied with what I do. Most of the time I'm not sure if I'm too critical or just lack self-esteem ... Thank you, I had the impression it was something that could be done in a week.
  14. I fired-up the inspector to have a look at the code... 5015 lines ! What ? What is this WebGL thing ? C++ without namespaces and libraries ? I thought it was some kind of universal module for web development languages like HTML5 or JavaScript (actually it does say bundle.js.... I didn't know I could read JS). I was expecting at least some kind of high-level invoking of a standard library. Maybe this was coded in a compiler with about 15 lines of code but publishing it to work on the web page had to unwrap a shitload of basic IO code with it.
  15. I want to make my own video showreel (I don't even have a portfolio) but I don't really have any inspiration of what to include. I've seen a lot of showreels in youtube (individual artists that are not working in studios) but they all seam to my eyes too mainstream. They all have these same elements. Showing some kind of choreography of clones A bunch of balls flowing around attracted by an invisible attractor Some softbodies colliding with each other Some voronoi fracturing Some abstract Volume Builder melting thing Maybe some minimalistic/miniature architectural assembling thing All the above rendered using soft pastel lighting and colors I'm watching videos and I'm like ... yes, I know how that was made, yes, done that, yes that's voronoi with a matrix, that was made with that plugin, that is made using X-Particles... Either there is a specific trend that hasn't faded yet, Either my eyes have been trained too well recognizing the C4D "look", Either most freelancers using C4D start with low-end hardware and end up using it for the same reasons, (I'm not referring to well established professionals like most people here, their demos probably contain things they already done for clients, I'm talking about beginners (professionally) like me ) Or I'm just watching shitty videos. Character modeling/animation isn't my thing so I can't compete with that... Maybe a chubby cartoon character but nothing more. I'm not sure if I'm really out of good ideas or blinded by the fact that I know enough technical stuff that have made me difficult to be impressed. (I still get impressed by things I don't know well like Xpresso and Python scripts) What makes a good looking portfolio video for a C4D user ? I've been monitoring jobs from ArtStation and they all need senior artists. These days there's a high demand for AAA content creators. So how can one start ? I think this is a nice topic for anyone with zero professional experience interested on getting out there.
  16. Very interesting , thank you.

  18. Any idea how the Chromatic Aberration was achieved ? I don't think this effect can be done so well in real-time
  19. I just saw Space Jam: A New Legacy (and it was boring like hell) and noticed that the software Dom is using to design his game has C4D's icons. It looks exactly how C4D would look like if it was developed by DAZ
  20. Thank you so much ... 👍 I would never figured that out... So that's what that TGroup is used for... Actually I indeed was gonna trace them !
  21. @bezoStill nothing ... problem.c4d
  22. Oops , sorry for that too. I didn't notice that and edited only the misspelling on the main text. Hm... maybe I shouldn't have split the Xpresso to two tags and keep both setups under the same tag as you... I'll try that and come back with the scene itself if that doesn't work. Thank you.
  23. Sorry, yes, I meant TP.... hahahha It's XPreasso and for some reason my hand thinks all parts of it should begin with X
