there just arent enough people on here compared to reddit... and honestly i think the thread was just made to make it look like maxon interacts with the community or something... obviously they cant implement any of what anyone says because how will they anyway with a billion suggestions. maxon already has so much to do with what theyre already working on...
-
my suggestion:
-
Here is my implementation of Least Squares Estimation in Scene Nodes. I did this mainly to practice learning how to use arrays and loop carried value... I think the way I did it was really wacky and weird but it works 😅 sn-least-squares-estimation.c4d
-
i'd like to see you pull off physically based squash and stretch 😉
-
yea I feel like something like field drivers should be core to c4d anyway...
-
nice update with the field driver and the pre roll. I will say tho i gtta feel for chris with that development overlap. either way it feels awesome that we can drive any parameter now 🙂

Maxon raising prices next month - *Capsules* are now more expensive...
LLS replied to Jeff H1's topic in Discussions
yea i do agree that other software has a bunch of lousy complainers as well. I'm no evangelist for any software, particularly houdini which I think has many major flaws... I am happy with the work that c4d devs are rolling out, especially the multithreading/parallelism work thats being done. generally maxon so far with what theyve released is in the right direction development wise... my main criticism is just price hikes which are more of a corporate decision... regardless, I am in no position to switch to other software because I dont think they're any better. c4d is still my go to program and preferred workflow.- 72 replies

well i hope the massive houdini 20.5 release encourages them to bring the heat if theyre gnna increase prices as well... we'll see with 2025...- 72 replies

well its not like were only criticizing maxon for increasing prices in our lives. many corporations are greedy and price gouging etc like crazy... but theres also a difference with digital products. theyre digital. they print money and many software companies make minimal effort to actually improving the program in any substantial manner that justifies an increase in prices... as for maxon needing to do more hiring. if thats the case then they are much slower than some indie devs and developers that have already done so much more and better with less workers than what maxon currently is doing with cinema4d. i guess finally fixing the split command in the latest update cost them an arm and a leg...- 72 replies

i also love someone mentioning how houdini came out with so many more features yet they never touched pricing... and here we are with c4d they did one particles overhaul and all of a sudden they feel like they can just increase prices... so disgusted ngl. but also nothing new here its happened so much recently. even autodesk has a support chat where u can ask for a refund and they'll give it to you... maxon doesnt even have a live chat cant even contact them for licensing issues etc...- 72 replies

GAWD DAMMIT! and mcgavran literally said there would be no price raising when they released new particles system. guess he never said they wouldnt raise it after... stupid ass greedy corporations. they'll increase prices but employee pay wont be increased. what are they using the money for? digital products dont even use expensive facitilites... it doesnt cost more money to maintain a digital product... just a money printing machine to them... they dont care about how difficult its become to afford the cost of living today and make it hard on us users who actually want to use 3d software because its their passion and escape... shame on maxon as usual...- 72 replies

thanks for the increased security corebot! sorry to hear that you were a target of something horrible like this. it's really sad to see that happen, we're just a niche community of artists. glad you were able to prevent it and also found the origin of the attacks. hopefully you/we don't experience something like this again.

nice, the blue circle to indicate unread topics is much better... I have noticed one more 'bug', code snippets are coming out unreadable and ugly looking. See Havealots post down the bottom here: https://www.core4d.com/ipb/forums/topic/117017-scene-nodes-capsules-file-pit/?page=17

I believe for this to be possible, xpresso needs to be able to commuicate with scene nodes, which I don't think it can.

its generally pretty slow. sometimes its extremely slow takes forever to load the site… in rare instances the site barely loads. but most of the time its ok, still slow tho. but i can undertstand now that i think about the years of data stored on this forum. hopefully things will get faster with the cleanup. i have noticed a bit of a speed improvement 🙂
-
I do want to say though, this site is very slow for the amount of money it costs to have a forum like this. alot of forums i visit are exceptionally fast, especially these days. what options are there for much faster forum?

WE BACK!

thank you! we really need this!

yeah it was cloud service. the amount of times i crashed their machine as well 🤣 although i would like to own a system/server like that one day...
-
hehe, I don't think I'm one to be sold the dream... I've always analysed products on a technical level... I know very well what these systems do underneath I used to be an avid user of xparticles myself so I am completely aware of what it was capable of doing, I've pushed it faar beyond it's capabilities and maxed out 700gb ram machine once trying to push the system... My main point was there was a certain time where it did more than what c4d was providing and filled that gap for a while... I think there's no harm in applauding some good marketing... every product needs it regardless of what it provides in the end... And we are in the motion graphics business, alot of peoples jobs is to create good branding productions, so seeing good work done by Insydium in that area was just an analysis of good production rather than the product...
-
I'm liking this competition... I wouldn't say they rushed anything tho, i'm pretty sure insydium knew this was coming more than anyone else did. They probably already had a few things prepared. They are pricey as hell especially given the current competiton, however, I still respect their work and I actually still prefer their implementation of particles. I personally still like the even more intuitive design they have got going, where everything fits into nice categories and all the modifiers are stored in the dropdowns from the groups in the object manager. That to me is still much better implementation of handling objects especially for something like a particle system, which comes with so many modifiers... I actually do still hope xparticles sticks around, but yea, it'll be really hard to justify their prices. If they lower prices and provide something even more special with xparticles, I think this would be very fun competition... Actually, I am excited now to see what they can really bring to the table now that C4D is trying to take over simulation... so I do hope they stick around and can stay in business 🙂 Also, I really like the work Bob puts into these videos. I always respected the marketing, its second to none imo. Maxon can even learn a few things off that... Not to drag on for too long but I also want to add: Insydium through the years have shown potential that maxon couldnt effectively provide, and proved that a company like insydium can provide something different and unique from the even bigger players... and I will always repsect them in that regard... I hope this company the best...

^ oh yeah the frost soft guy. Maxon just recently bought his normal editing plugin and integrated it in 2024 release... I forgot he also made a realtime renderer as well for C4D way before any1 else...
-
that's still a losing battle for c4d. there is no point on spending development time and resources on something that a billion or trillion dollar corporation like Epic is going to do way better than anyone else. They are focused on the real time market and pretty much are winning in that department. What you're asking for is the equivalent of when autodesk thought that integrating sculpting tools from mudbox into maya would actually compete against zbrush, failing to realise that part of what makes zbrush great is how fast its 'viewport' implementation is and how it can handle millions of polygons through its optimizations. Maya can't have that work for its viewport because sculpting has different requirements. Just because other DCCs are attempting to include real time rendering natively, doesnt make it a good decision for cinema4D. Rather than fomo'ing and chasing industry trends, Maxon is better off coming up with its own set of creative ideas to give it a unique place in the market. Things that other programs like unreal and blender cant provide well enough... Also improving on what c4d already does really well is way better than chasing some industry trend. As for blender being able to imitate close to unreal. 'Close' is not good enough. Unreal is winning that side of things and blender can add it without much fear of losing anything if it falls short.
