  1. Hi there, I'm selling off my license of C4D R18 which includes a perpetual license for vRay 3.6. €600 (purchaser pays license transfer fee, to be arranged with MAXON). Cheers, Nick
  2. Hi there, I'm looking to sell my version of Cinema 4D R18 Studio - £1100 (buyer pays transfer fee). I also have a perpetual license for vRay 3.6 up for sale (works for R18 - R19). Please DM me with any queries or questions. Cheers, Nick
  3. Thanks so much for that! This is a huge help. Cheers, Nick
  4. Hey @borg - thanks for that - it shows that it can be done, but I'm wondering how the script was written though - it is password protected unfortunately. Thanks again! Cheers, Nick
  5. Hi there, I've been asked to look at creating an analogue clock that displays the true time... the maths involved is fairly straightforward, but I can't work out how to get Xpresso to get the real world time? I've done a similar thing in Unreal Engine, where you can extract values for the hour, minutes and seconds, then feed this information into the rotation of the clock hands. Is this possible using Xpresso? Any tips or pointers appreciated. Cheers, Nick
  6. If it's any comfort, it doesn't look like we're the only industry suffering a shortage of GPUs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-43056744
  7. @fxtree Thanks for that. It works, but I have not idea how you've done it... Any clues as to how you've done it would be much appreciated. @kalugin Well, on the upside I did learn that you can hide code from prying eyes!
  8. This is really nice work - How long did it all take? Cheers, Nick
  9. Although I don't think you can blame a company for raising its prices once in 10 years, it would still be nice to know what we might be paying for... I really don't want to sound negative, but every year we seem to go through the "the next release is going to be the big one" and "looks like we're finally going to get that Bodypaint and UV mapping overhaul we've all been waiting for" discussions. I let my MSA lapse this year, as there were no 'must haves' for me personally in R19. I might be tempted to renew it ahead of the R20 release if I knew exactly what was coming...

Thanks for the feedback! @EAlexander - I'm supremely jealous that you've actually been to this building! It's been on my list for quite a while. From what I gather, it is a restaurant now? @Cerbera - I think you have a point about the shots feeling a little hurried... Luckily, the sequencer in UE4 makes it very easy to change these sorts of things... I'm working on another edit in the coming days. I've set myself a goal of doing a few more of these before the winter breaks - I'll keep posting them. Cheers, Nick
  11. Hi all, As the weather here in Sweden is nothing short of terrible at this time of year, I usually set myself a 'winter project' to take my mind off how dark and cold it is outside. This year, I decided to model the Whitney Museum in New York (by Marcel Breuer) and give it a treatment in Unreal Engine. I'm no expert in UE4, but have been really taken by being able to walk around the finished model in real time. Everything has been modelled in Cinema 4d, and finished in UE4. Any feedback and comments are more than welcome. Cheers, Nick
  12. Thanks for that - I'll have a play and see if I can get anything to work - Python is pretty far out of my comfort zone, but I do enjoy a good challenge! Cheers, Nick
  13. Hi there, I'm wondering if it's possible to do the following: I have a set of instanced objects, and I'd like to set the enable state to OFF, when they are placed into a Null object... I am guessing that I need to set a condition (ie. "if Object X is a child of Null Y, then set the enabled state to off" type of set-up), but I'm having trouble working out the conditional node - am I looking in the right place? If anyone could give me a pointer, I'd sure appreciate it. Cheers,
  14. I cannot recommend Mograph enough - I use C4d for architectural work (and vRay as my primary renderer). I cannot think of a single project I've done over the last five years where it hasn't saved me! My 5 cents. Cheers, Nick
  15. I'd definitely be interested in chipping in some time/ models etc... So you have firm idea of the story? Cheers, Nick
  16. I'm potentially interested... I've just sent you a PM. Cheers, Nick
  17. If you're working with a mesh that has seen a lot of work, quite often running an optimize before you align normals will help things along...
  18. @wrightymon I'm not sure if this is still an issue, and how far you'd be willing to go to solve it, but in vray for C4d, you have the options of adding a rounding to edges on a texture by texture basis. For small radiusses (radii?), it works really well as a quick and dirty solution (particularly helpful when working with free models). The only downside is of course, that you'd have to stump up for a vray license (which IMO, is well worth it for lots of different reasons). Cheers, Nick
  19. @cerbera - thanks for posting this: I don't know how I managed to live without XS Thickness!!
  20. Such a great site - thanks for sharing it. It's interesting to read about why he made the site free too....
  21. Hi there, I've come across these doors and frankly, my head is melting trying to work out the geometry/ mechanics of how they work! I thought it'd be a simple exercise to model one, but they are tricky to get exactly right - in the attached example, I've come close and although the pins and strut start and end in the right position, the strut always shifts away from the lower pivot when it's rotating... Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be much about the geometry involved on the net, and I'm fascinated by how they work. Can anyone shed any light on how they work and the setting out involved - I'm not interested in having the attached file finished, much more interested in the setting out and the reasoning behind it. Cheers, Nick Untitled 2.c4d
  22. I've never done too much with C4d beyond archviz and interiors, so have set myself a goal of learning more about animation etc. Here's a couple of spare-time projects I've set myself recently. I'm not really sure where I'm headed with any of these, but I'm having loads of fun playing! Any feedback or comments welcomed. Cheers, Nick
  23. There is a great model for charging this type of work which has always served me well: I'd charge handsomely for the quick turn around, and also echo that you should be upfront about how unlikely it is to get a high quality result in that short time. Clients very often don't understand how much work and adrenaline goes into this type of work and have a "you can do it in front of the telly" attitude. It's always best to gently educate a client at the beginning of a relationship and manage their expectations - that way, you'll get more return work. That said, if it is your first time working with this client, don't be afraid to watermark whatever work you do, and tell them that they can have the clean version once you've been paid. I know it's tempting to do a job like this on the cheap for portfolio-points, and that can be fine every now and then, but don't get in the habit of giving anything away - it sets a dangerous precedent! Let us know how you get on. Cheers, Nick
  24. Thanks for the feedabck! @eenendertig For this sort of work, I'd really recommend pano2VR - very simple to use, and great results (pretty decent price too!). It's actually a stand-alone piece of software and not a plugin - although it would be especially good if you could export directly from Cinema! Cheers, Nick
