  1. Modelling-wise, there is nothing quite like Modo in look, feel and precision. I hope it doesn't get subsumed by everything else around it. I often wonder if I would end up there if I ever lost my love for Cinema - although I am more familiar with Max, which seems these days like a sort of stagnant monolith to old school modelling (which in itself isn't a bad thing !), there is something about the look and organisation of Modo which makes me think I would prefer to work in it over Max's horror show muddle of a GUI. Of course now Igor and the interwebs is showing me the wonders of Houdini of course that is also a contender. But I am generally very happy in Cinema now (with the normal list of exceptions 😉 ) so I ain't going anywhere in the short-term, but kinda hope Modo remains there should I ever feel the winds of change (cue Scorpions anthem etc etc)... 2. I've just spoken to a PC guru type friend, who informs me that on my Gigabyte X570UD I only need to enable TPM, and don't need to flash the bios or do anything with bootloaders... And Microsoft themselves provide a way to skip the TPM check altogether ! I am in the middle of too many projects to risk this immediately, but my buddy Nick has upgraded 4 Ryzen machines so far by modifying that key, and hasn't encountered any negative issues so far ! CBR
  3. Are these 3D or actually 2D painted / drawn ?!! CBR
  4. Yeah that last one dude, particularly - wonderful sunlight / haze combo 🙂 CBR
  5. Impressive stuff ! Initially you have to look quite hard to recognize it as 3D ! CBR
  6. Well that's a 30 page essay you're asking for right there ! I'd be surprised if anyone had the time TBH... CBR

Nice machine, and lovely case work ! Hope you're gonna put the wires up somewhere !
  8. Well done Dave, you beat me to it 🙂 Let's have a massive round of applause for our man Holger and his ongoing generosity in providing free updates like a shining rare gem of brilliance in an otherwise rather muddy pool ! I've said it 1000 times before and I'll say it again now - if you are remotely serious about modelling in Cinema you simply NEED these tools, so if you don't have 'em, go get 'em - it'll be the best 99 euros you could ever spend ! Yeah, really REALLY good Lovely stuff !
  10. Welcome to the Core ! Excellent - happy learnings, and we look forward to seeing what you work on... CBR
  11. Indeed - welcome on in ! CBR
  12. Oh well that s considerably more rubbish news than I was hoping for ! Bet it's the same for me 🙂 Thanks for the heads up. CBR
  13. If you do a general search for Win 11 you will shortly find the PC health check tool you can download, which has a 'Is this machine OK for Win 11' tab... https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-11#pchealthcheck CBR
  14. I ran the health check and was vaguely appalled to see that my relatively new machine did not meet the spec for Win 11. I am hoping that I have the following 'Trust Management Platform' available but disabled - will have to look in BIOS and see if I can find it - apparently it is often disabled by default. CBR
  15. Yeah - good advice from HV there - I'm with him - always wait a year until they make it work properly 🙂 CBR
  16. Stunning work as usual from the master of polygon efficiency 🙂 CBR
  17. How much ya want for it ? Not interested myself so much, but that's the sort of thing you want in your first post... CBR
  18. OBS does allow you to record at low frame rates ! It goes as low as 10 FPS in the presets, but I think you can input lower manually. I use that for video, but for stuff where I want snapshots or really short ultra low FPS video I use lovely free ScreentoGif, which has 2 modes - one for video and another for manual snapshotting, which just draws a frame over C4D, and you manually hit the snap button whenever you like. It has comprehensive editing, annotation, and retiming as well, which is nice. Here's one I did in that earlier... CBR
  19. Indeed, may your learnings be great and your time here rewarding ! CBR

    Hello from UAE

Ah, you're in the right place then. Lots of decent modellers here, and very rare we find a modelling challenge we can't help with... CBR
  21. Yep, that is the way I would do it if I were making live tuts - it is a lot more editing work, which seriously increases production time but it definitely makes for better videos once you are over presenting the basics. Not only can you use that technique to separate modelling from speaking but also to skip / accelerate render or simulation times (when that becomes important) and to speed up sections of tedious repetitive modelling work once you have shown the first few moves at regular speed people wanna 'get through' seeing the same move demoed 30 times more ! @Hrvoje uses that technique to great effect in his modelling tuts where he will often speed up the tweaking process between each main modelling stage, which would be very tedious to watch at regular speed. CBR
  22. Nope, won't be a 4K thing, it'll most likely be a noise gate / auto mute you have on the mic which aims to kill background noise during silences by muting or otherwise attenuating the mic level. If it is that, Just find the control in the mic settings that does that and either disable it, or adjust the threshold down / release time up (if that is an option you have) so it gates less aggressively. CBR
  23. Very interesting to watch, and a great first effort. Some general feedback for you; 1. Those things on a fork are called 'tines' 2. I wouldn't worry too much about having you on screen past the intro. You're too small to really see when you're in the corner, but TBH we don't need to see you there at all once you start modelling ! I know a lot of people do like to remain on screen down small somewhere, but I have always wondered why ! I know you show the mouse later, but I reckon you should appear and go full screen for that. 3. Move the mic a little closer to your mouth (and make sure you are speaking perpendicular to the FRONT of it, not the end), to get less of the sound of the room in the recording (very minor issue - really am nitpicking there ! 🙂 ) 4. Explanations are clear and I didn't struggle to follow anything you said. At times I thought you were speaking very slowly, but I appreciate how difficult it is to think, model and speak a non-native language all at the same time, so all respect there ! Also, for future tutorials, could you please show how Houdini tackles pure poly wrangling - making live path cuts on models, and moving individual points around etc etc - anyway, great job, and looking forward to seeing more of these ! CBR
  24. Welcome to the Core ! 🙂 Which plugins menu is that then ?! However that doesn't immediately sound related to the middle click viewport freeze thing. 1. Which VGA driver are you using (version and studio or game-ready?) 2. What if you use the buttons in the VP or shortcuts to switch views - does that crash stuff, or is it just the middle click ? 3. Is it every time you middle click, or sometimes that's fine ? 4. Have you submitted a bug report /ticket direct to Maxon about this ? CBR
  25. Yes I think that has been addressed already... CBR
