  1. FWIW I've tested yesterday on a M1 Ultra and from my tests it looks as fast or faster than the initial example posted in the video. It seems very nice, though I'll probably never use it for my works
  2. In my experience Affinity is superior to PS for a lot of things, including 32bit editing that for CG artists is essential. It is also a lot faster and more efficient than PS (at least on MacOS, haven't tried on Windows yet) and it is cheaper too if that matter. The only reason why I'm still using PS and not Affinity is because I do most of my editing inside the frame buffer, so I only need minor tweaks on my images and for the rest PS provide a good toolset and I'm accustomed to it. PS may still have some advantage in selected circumstances but that depends on your workflow. Bottom line, is a very good contender and for some stuff is superior to PS.
  3. Hope this is not the future... it looks more like a nightmare to me... Why should I let an AI algorithm decide for myself? beside the fact that many low end artist will loose the job since poor quality one click solutions will be available for everyone. Technology should be here to help our job, not make it redundant..
  4. As far as I know with the latest OS release some C4D glitches on M1 Ultra have been solved as well.
  5. I was looking in your setup and it seems quite useful! I was wandering if there is a way to randomize the objects position. I need to do something like in the attached image and cylinders should not intersect with each other, maybe ther's an easy way top get it done with this node setup
  6. It depends by the model, some models are made from laserscan (at least in part), other are done by me using traditional quad modeling and subdivision surface, other comes from Marvelous Designer, and some time the model is made out of all this techniques together. Here are a few wireframe:
  7. Not all of that is made from scratch, as said some model are laserscan, then I reuse some furniture I've made for other projects and even for the new stuff I often start from components I already have. The chandelier for example is made out of parts from a chandelier I've done a few years ago, same thing for the curtains, the table lamps, the TV cabinet and other parts.
  8. If you still need it I've done a quick test with some layered noise (it can be improved a lot with a bit of work). The layer should be readable by most C4D engine: sun layered noise.c4d Here is a test with the same setup and a few sun flare:
  9. Thanks! Forgot to post some statistics: -about 40million real polygons plus render instances -over 250 lights(spherical, ies, and mesh light plus a physical sun/sky for the day light views) -large use of Vray Fur coupled with Vray Hair material for the carpet. The area was quite large (about 250 square meters of carpet) but I've managed to limit the RAM consumption by using the dedicated level of detail feature -I've used C4D R26, Vray6, Marvelous Designer, all modeled by me except for some laser scans and a couple accessories -most textures and shaders created from scratch for this project, I've also used a few metal from my bundle -tone mapping and post production done 99.9% inside the frame buffer, just some highlights compression, a LUT, and some cryptomatte mask here and there, some white balance when needed -10 days of work including render time -about 4/5h per image @4K resolution on an old 8core system with 32GB RAM
  10. MOD please move the topic, somehow I've posted in the guideline... Here is one one of my latest work, I know you may not like the style;) Any constructive critic is much appreciated, especially regarding tone mapping/color/mood!
  11. On our channel we have several tutorial, including a 2h workshop sponsored by Chaos last year: https://www.youtube.com/c/3DRenderandBeyond/videos I've been extremely busy in the last few months and I didn't have spare time to make new tutorials, I hope to upload more video soon though. Chaos have many videos too on their channel, also being essentially the same software you can take any Vray for Max/Maya/whatever tutorial and do the same in Vray for Cinema4D.
  12. Chaos also have a license for all the DCC and it includes not only Vray but also Phoenix, Vantage, Chaos Scans and more. The scatter is already on the to do list and will be added with a future update, it was not the top priority since C4D already have a good cloner system. The Chaos scattering still have a couple things that can not be done easily with C4D standard tools so it will be a welcome addition.
  13. It is 100% just like real geometry;) the strand looks soft because I've used the Vray Hair material that gives a nice SSS in reasonable time. Render time for the knitted wool image at 3072 pixel was about 20/30' on an old 8 core machine, seem to remember it took about 4 GB of RAM, including the small random hair that pops out the wool surface, I've used Vray Fur for that.
  14. Corona is still nice, but I have no reason to use it anymore. Vray today is on par or superior and most of the new features will come for Vray first, and if possible will be ported to Corona later. Vray have also a GPU engine and for some users it will be a big plus.
  15. I'm playing with V-Ray Enmesh and I'm in love, this feature allows to get an amazing level of detail. I'll use it for most of my jobs. It works just like a texture except is real geometry, I do not mean displacement I mean real geometry generated at render time. A couple pillows for a new work (with client reference image) and a knitted wool:
  16. Here is a sneak peek of what we are going to show you, Thin Film Shader, Decals, VFB 360 Panorama viewer, Mesh Light, Enmesh, Clouds and more!
  17. Hi everyone, Come join us today to learn more about V-ray 6 for Cinema 4D, we will be sharing Amazing tips and tricks of this new version so make sure to be there! https://www.chaos.com/vray/cinema-4d/live-webinar-october-2022 Just click on the link, save the date and you will be able to add the event to your calendar;)
