I can see that you are on mac, Windows here so can't help much with troubleshooting. Seems like databases are clashing or some path related issue is present. Could be also that admin rights are needed? Please contact Maxon support, that is your safest bet
Here is an asset version
For asset, it is important to create new input port to grab children of the asset. This includes right clicking and creating nested ports from bundle. Additionally, you have to instruct the system in resource editor if the port is in object or link mode. In this case object.

Easiest "fix" is to replace the polyFX in question. Seems that the one you have is having some rotation and weight applied? Either way, it would be good practice to use frozen transforms
Scope is visually changed to {. Inner scope is what you are most likely to use. Depending on the setup inside the loop, even small iteration values can lead to a lot of data. Can you post a scene file?
I know what you are after, here is a quick and dirty version. More elaborate setup would have to detect overlaps but it is quite late here and it is not easy 🙂
107_Spline_Outline.c4d
1. Use spline distributions for resampling, simple scene attached resample.c4d
2. This can be done with bounding box and some remapping, Scene attached 198_Match_Size.c4d
3. That is recursion. Here is a simple example. Elaborate setups need time and are not that trivial, hope this helps you move forward 40_Recursion.c4d

From brief glance it looks as the skeleton hierarchy is incorrect. You may want to significantly reduce the file size and scene complexity in order to get some assistance...
