Dan's tools include some real productivity enhancement. Also, his FBX tool allows users to go back and forth with Maya for better view response. There was only one bug that never got squashed, CD Make Symmetrical destroys the UVs on the corrected side. As there will be no support, it's permanent.
Formidal accomplishment for one person. The characters would have benefited from more detailed materials, especially with such close ups. Although the coriagraphy made extreme demands on the animator, the movement wasn't persuasive.
I don't have C4D open at the moment but if you use the Select Connected tool to access individual parts, you can save them as individual objects with Mesh>Conversion>Polygon Groups to Object. To make one object, Mesh>Conversion>Combine and Combine Delete
Have you considered giving the train a longer journey? One idea, mount a camera in front of your car (where you can turn it on and off) and use the footage for an image sequence seen out the windows of the coach.
I try to average two hours a day in 3D efforts but surfing beckons. The "awesome devices" were thrown up by the surf (sent by an elderly dame with an email list).
I still use Cactus Dan's tools which emulated Maya and with his FBX converter, it could be transferred to Maya (for screen response better than C4D) and back to C4D. His passing was a blow to anyone that wanted to upgrade C4D. I think it stopped with 18. I use 15.
