Fair points. There have been comments that people don't like forums anymore, but the SideFX and Blender forums are big, healthy and thriving, especially (obviously) the latter. Though different people are obviously involved, I can't help but note that the trend is the same - all these approaches of pricing the app high, paywalling the forum, removing the scene nodes help files, Maxon having no official forum, and so on and so on, are exercises in starving the beast and smacking the hand of the users. All three of the cited apps, Houdini / C4D / Blender, have elements that require the users to make excuses for the apps shortcomings or accept apologies and explanations for where things disappoint or fall short. We know the grass is not 100% greener anywhere and the discussions have been long covered. But all this combined with the empty 2026 release does provide a good moment to take a breath and take stock. Possibly full Scene Nodes training will roll out sometime around the 10th anniversary of when they first introduced it. Not to end things on a downer but I'm reminded again there is a simple fix for users and it involves the temporary pain point of reorienting yourself and your muscle memory in front of a new app and going from there.

It was the best and only one place to learn advanced node based stuff. There are only few advanced YT videos that I found. Pretty sad that Maxon doesn't have its own official forum. Really only one company without forum on the whole world.

Pretty sad note to end on imo, just another smack in the face to the community that’s kept this going for all these years. Hope to see some Of you over on happy polygons discord server, or my own. We can always look for an alternative place to hang out from there. I’m out

All attachments from thread are gone. I wanted to make copy of this great useful knowledge here at the end of this month but I see that they all gone before month over.

Yeah I had half hoped we'd get the traditional week or two discussion about the latest C4D release, but the barely there C4D 2026 edition put paid to that as there was nothing in it to discuss. Putting the site behind a paywall and then the training and files behind a paywall to help people who are already shelling out for one of the priciest 3D apps in the industry does feel like doubling down on something not great, but it is what it is I suppose. I'll check out Vozzz's forum but he better put up a joint Houdini / Blender page in it somewhere. Good luck everyone.

so everything created here is now going to be behind a new paywall, such as your short youtube vids and small plugins? shaking head in disbelief… wow. it looks like downloads from threads are even disabled.. at least for me they are. alright i”m out.

Hello We opted to remove that as well since providing such level of knowledge, especially in technical areas of C4D was valid and made sense with the forum generating enough profit to cover expenses. We will rather focus our technical know-how into producing paid trainings and assets from now on. We made every possible effort we could to keep things free, accessible and shared massive amounts of knowledge but we, as everyone else, have to pay our bills.
  12. Just before the forum closes I have one last post! I have been dabbling with Blender and am comparing render times of my PC against my Mac. For this I wanted to use the Junkshop scene (which I have) and the Monster and Classroom scenes which I don't have. I have looked but cannot seem to find them. Is there a way of extracting them from the benchmark software perhaps or if anyone can point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance 🙂

Why is the entire Core4D YouTube channel content delisted? Does it hurt to leave it up? Those are still helpful tutorials, even if the site doesn't exist anymore.
  14. I have a likely simple question but it's driving me crazy. I have a vertex map applied to vertex attribute node and I'm using it as a mask in a material blender, but I can't get this material to show up. Any ideas? Vertex_Map_For_Textures.c4d
  15. My apologies for the tonedeaf post. I value this community and as a long-time member and participant, both professionaly and personally, I too grieve the loss.

Maybe not the best idea to hide a forum behind a paywall? I would never access a new forum that demands me to pay first. I did it here because I know it and been here for years. If I was new I would immediately quit the site on paywall feature access request
  17. I get what Donovan is trying to do but it's a bit like the fire department handing out customer service surveys after the building has burned down because they were having doughnuts next door. Shrug.

Well, as these hallowed halls, and human-powered 3D in general seems to be dying on its arse, and my 'career A' with it, better gracefully exit right into the B plan, which'll have to be the music then. For anyone nice enough to help a broke and lowly piano and strings guy, go See Lucubratory Ablaze, over here. https://lucubratoryablaze.bandcamp.com/music And I'll be on DeviantArt and Discord if anyone still wants me for 3D stuff. Or email. Luminetrics@gmail.com Thank you, and may your artistry endure ! (gazes fixedly at the middle distance and salutes the sea.) Thinks about whether to jump in. CBR

@prowl It is even less than what you stated. There were no interested parties at all, I am sure everyone who could be interested is aware. A good chunk was covered by some members volunteering a lot of their time for free or giving donations. It is not sustainable without corporate sponsorship. There was some interest into purchasing database for purpose of advertising but we politely declined.
  23. People in general are quite confused about the Take system so calling out bugs is foremost the question: "Am I not understanding the system". 😉 And yes there are multiple bugs for years.

So are we talking about £$€20k a year? So are you not willing to just let someone else take it over rather than fall into the void? You could remain owner of the URL and if it ever becomes profitable then perhaps benefit from that. A small contract would need to be in place. I am sure there is someone here with the knowledge above... or perhaps a studio?
  25. Taking advantage of forums last days to call community members for assistance regarding very product this community helped so much is, well... This kind of complacency or, shall I rather say disinterest from MAXON is quite telling. Corporate greed and blindness to value it provides is stunning. It is easy to brand yourself as not caring as Autodesk, you are almost all the way there. Once that happens there is no way back to regain trust. No wonder people are leaving for Blender or Houdini...
  26. Hey Y'all, I’m the Group Product Manager for Maxon Capsules. I'm very sorry to hear that this forum will be shutting down. While the community is all still here, I'd like to ask you for your feedback. We’re currently planning our next year of Capsules production (2D & 3D assets and presets available in Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Maxon Studio) - how we can make the library more useful in your day‑to‑day work? Survey link: https://forms.office.com/e/wCL0BfUZiT Suvey is now CLOSED. Time required: 2–10 minutes. You can answer as much or as little as you like; if you need to stop early, just skip to the last page and hit “Submit.” Your feedback will help us prioritize the types of content and features we produce next year. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!
  27. I think generally this concept of fixing problems yourself is going away a bit. i feel like people who have problems try to reproduce it, and then email that to customer support. and then if its a bug they try go fix it.
  28. Thank you Happy Polygon - much appreciated! I will experiment a bit more with the Simulation Substeps, never heard of that one or just forgot about it… I will post an update hopefully before the forum goes. Not sure i will use an afro on my character I just wanted to play with the hair.
  29. This system has started to show a lot of problems in the latest versions such as the effect of changes in specific take on the master take, random change of cameras, changing settings such as lighting for example in several takes even in the master after trying to change that in a specific take, freezing and even crashing while trying to add a take ... etc. The weired thing is that there isn't a lot of discussions about this on forums and others platforms, have people recently stopped using the take system on cinema 4d or what?
  30. Hi Members Im trying to work out how to get an image in and out of octane looking exactly the same. In regular C4D I would use the compositing tag and at that point the image wouldn’t get affected by lights etc and would keep its original color, so when rendered it looked exactly the same as the original. I cant seem to achieve the same in Octane Any ideas / advice Many thanks Deck
