There was a donation button for long time, we had badges and the rather symbolic subscription fee. The cost of the forum is large since it needs dedicated server, a lot of disk space and additional security and spam defense is costly. At the end, few very good people gave more than they can afford to help us out, but it is simply not fair to them. You may have noticed that we had very little issues with spammers, bots posting or downtime. Backend work and moderating is also costing us, plus the forum software and plugins that it runs. Production of training videos and plugins also takes resources. Unfortunate, but we simply have no rope left. People expect everything for free and that is ok. By closing the forum all posts, scene files, contacts and know how goes away - seems C4D community is ok with that, we are sad about this but can't do nothing about it.
  3. I'm shocked ! Is anyone interested in creating a Discord or other cheaper even free type of forum and move the content there ? I never knew the monthly or annual expenses of this forum. It could be nice if we had a donation bar on the top, like wikipedea or other startups have. It seems to have a psychological drive on people. Did we ever have that ?

Would love to see others being supportive as you did, we would have no issues running the place. From 60000 members 98% decided that 5 bucks each 90 days is not worth it, we respect that decision

Dear members and friends With great sadness in our heart we are announcing the closing of the forum. After more than 20 years (formerly also as C4D Cafe) we reached the end of the road. The reason is that we simply can't cover expenses anymore. Forum and whole platform, including creation of Youtube training and plugins was relying on ads and volunteer based subscription. We removed ads on your request and also disabled direct advertising. The huge rise in memberships simply did not increase the subscription count, 98% of members are not subscribed and have never subscribed to support the community. We are not able to pay for dedicated server, additional security and spam defense, management of huge database of scenes and posts, moderation, creation of plugins and Youtube training content. Unfortunately we were also not able to make a deal with potential sponsor and simply reached the end of the line. Forum will go offline on October 1st. Massive thanks to all the subscribed members and ones who helped with donations and their time, endlessly trying to keep the original C4D community alive, you guys know who you are. Times are changing and we have to move on. All the subscribed members will get cancellation of subscription at the end of the month. Good luck to you all! With Regards Rob & CORE4D staff

  11. Hi. I'm looking for someone who has experience working with CAD models. (I can show you how if you don't) I need someone who can rearrange the parts under a material based hierarchy like in the image below. It would also be great if you can rig parts of the model like doors etc. to open and close. This isn't a one of job. I receive lots of STEP files every month so this will be an ongoing need of mine for the right person. I will of course need you to sign an NDA. You'll find my contact info here www.lightroom3d.com Regards. Cian.
  12. Well after a little experimentation I clicked on the View>Frame Default and it went back to normal… One of those little glitches I think? @ Hrvoje It was nothing to do with reverse orbit in the preferences since that was switched off, but thanks for the suggestion.
  13. Do you hove an example of how it should look ;like, maybe yt video?
  14. Maybe reverse orbit is enabled in prefs? Are you using a camera object? It could be that it has negative scale?
  15. Hi, I’m attempting to build a simple Mograph setup which mimic the old iTunes ‘Cover Flow’ interface - a row of tiles which move forward and rotate. I’ve made some progress but am struggling to avoid some of these ‘tiles’ intersecting as the Fields which drive their animation pass over them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid these intersections - I’ve attempted to ‘push’ the tiles apart when they are rotating but have struggled to find a clean / effective method. I have a feeling that moving the clones axis point from one side to the other might have something to do with this … Any help appreciated. Thanks! CAROUSEL_05.c4d

  17. Just updated that flick since it was the wrong one. Can someone in admin remove the old version, I cannot seem to do it?
  18. This is weird. I am working on some product shots and have noticed that when I am navigating the scene with Camera Mode set to 'Object' when I move the camera left and right the model moves in the correct direction but when I move it up and down it works in the opposite direction. If I cut and paste the model into a new scene it works as it should. I am wondering if I have accidentally hit some keyboard shortcut to activate this or is it is a quirk in C4D - it's nothing to do with reverse orbit in the preferences. If I cut and paste my whole scene into a new file the navigation works as normal. I am using C4D 2024.5.1 and am thinking it is time to update to the newer version BTW should I be careful???
  19. Great! Thank you for the help in this!
  20. you don't have enough geometry for the curvature you're trying to achieve in the cushion so it's causing shading issues. EDIT: I moved the camera at an extreme angle so you can see how there isn't enough geometry to make good curvature. Subdivide the geometry... use a Subdivision Surface or use a Redshift object tag (in the tag: Geometry override / Tessellation)
  21. I have no material applied to the geo. It's getting these weird relief lines. I attached a project. For some reason this area light is creating the issue––when it is toggled off, it disappears. Is this just a bug? Thank you for reading. Issue.c4d
  22. I just heard one of the local county police departments started using AI for non-emergency calls to answer questions or direct calls to the right departments. I had friends laid off from the government and government contracting who are finding it hard to get even a "standard" tech job. LOADS of applicants for smaller job pools due to AI removing positions and the unknowns in the current economy. I could see AI eating into those concept jobs and smaller positions where Blender and Maya generalists will be the first to go. I stopped looking at Linkedin because everyone is all of a sudden an "AI Evangelist or AI Creative Director", spending thousands on Veo just to make clips to promote their prompt skills.
  23. Hmmm. Tricky that one, because we are victims of different software parsing ngons in different ways. I think I would try a more thinking-out-of-the-box-style solution, where instead you clone (and ultimately replace with) a new flat plane to each existing leaf. Is that a possibility ? CBR
  24. Well I have been working away hard at this and this is where I have got to - I think it's an improvement and getting there 🙂 Peg's Mansion Flythrough HD v01.mp4
  25. The cookie-scene is such a flex, and it just continues flexing... o_O
  26. Thanks for this. I understand the principle but unfortunately I need the clones to intersect initially so they form the surface of the sphere. I then need them to collapse without exploding outwards so they form a non-intersecting pile on the floor. (Appreciate this might not be possible using rigid bodies as it's going against the laws of physics!)
