Here's a fun example for what you can do with Scene Nodes: You can implement even a game! I added comments to the node graph, I hope that helps if you are interested in the example. Here's the C4D file, it requires 2023.1: tetris.c4d tetris.mp4 To play the game, you have to press the usual play button in Cinema, and then either use the arrows for the Move/Rotate/Drop user data of the Keyboard Handler to control the game or install these Python scripts and assign shortcuts to them with the script manager. tetris_scripts.zip For a new round you have to reload the scene.3 points

I'd love to see AI used by Maxon and others for things like optimizing render settings. It can sometimes be tedious to go through render settings and find the optimal amount of samples for each light or surface in order to squeeze out the best quality and minimize render times. Having AI calculate the optimal settings for you based on the materials, lighting and environment would be nice. I mean going above and beyond the autosampling or the basic mode of low/medium/high/very high. I could also see it being used to auto-scale rendered images. For instance, you need a 4K animation. You hit a toggle in render settings which has AI determine and recommend the lowest possible resolution to render at so it can intelligently upscale the image after it renders it at the lower resolution. This is all done by the renderer so no need for a 3rd party solution like Topaz. Maybe other areas could benefit too like the tracker, sims, scene nodes and so on.2 points

The Blender Foundation has released Blender 3.4, the latest version of the open-source 3D software. Autodesk has unveiled Maya 2023.3, the latest version of its 3D modelling and animation software. Epic Games has released MetaHuman Creator 1.3, the latest version of its free next-gen character creation software, and the MetaHuman DNA Calibration Library, a new set of add-on tools. Otoy has released OctaneRender 2022.1, the latest version of the GPU production renderer, adding a new photon tracing kernel and a new layered ubermaterial based on Autodesk’s Standard Surface specification. Pilgway has released 3DCoat 2022.52, a new version of the sculpting, retopology and 3D painting app.1 point

I must say... Maxon really managed to turn around the boat. This year's updates were really amazing, and I refound my C4D-joy in learning all the well implemented new tools. I think I'm back to full fanboy mode. A big "Thank you" to all the devs making that happen! 😍1 point

The re-done Cineversity site is pretty cool. https://cineversity.maxon.net/en Redshift trailer below. I do not like the music, please stop using that track Maxon, but looks like a very solid update.1 point

I've recently read a controversy raised by this app here https://www.creativebloq.com/news/lensa-ai1 point

Zzzzz. No need to apologise. I don't know who you are, don't care what you think of my posts, and am not really bothered by the opinion of others. I currently subscribe to C4D and am happy doing so. Your guess Sherlock if this explains why I jump into C4D threads on a forum that mostly discusses C4D, or if there's a nefarious plot organised by a German company utilising a poster based in Melbourne. I posted earlier that I would be happier if the forum reopened again. That not good enough? I also posted that all of us are here and are currently subscribing. Am I wrong? I like this forum and I like Igor but if there are 'rumours' floating around, that's presumably on Igor, not McGavran, and if anyone needs them 'cleared up' then Igor can quite easily do that too, since you'd assume he knows what happened. Likewise if posters above are deeply curious and what to know exactly what went down - and if there are privacy concerns or whatever - they may as well PM Igor privately and ask "What happened Igor, tell me privately", and if he wants he can tell them. That should give you enough info. And if Igor can't or won't clear it up, why does Dave have to clear it up? Dave didn't start the rumours. If I'm wrong with any of the above then feel free to point out why. If I'm not wrong, then FFS stop whining about this topic. Dave and Igor are great people, the forum is here, and if there's a sneaky secret behind the scenes presumably Igor can spill the beans privately to anyone curious if he wants. If he can do that then Dave shouldn't have to write a long essay publicly about it. And if he can't do that then Dave shouldn't have to write a long essay publicly about it. I'm happy to hear that new posters continue to join because some of the regulars are starting to behave like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, spending too long locked in the same room staring at the walls.1 point

An interesting thing about some of this AI is how it's being used by its creators. For instance, are people's likenesses and information being harvested by these companies to help refine their AI model? Are these companies then selling the data to other companies? Without being fed data, AI wouldn't work as well. A lot of people are unknowingly feeding the machine.1 point

Hey CAIRYN, really sad that you go, but I find the firm step into an other area also bold. kudos for that. I can understand you and I also started to detach from c4d quite a bit not just emotionally. It is really a bummer, that there is no more room for you in the new c4d universe. But you are not alone. As You I and many others are looking into new directions like blender or unreal. And that can bring completely new joys. have a good ride, Jops1 point

I am simply being polite. The rumors are simply not true. Cheers Dave1 point

You can use nodes for that, here is some trickery, not math correct, Move on Z - hope it helps : ) Triangle_roll.c4d1 point

I have no idea about the financials behind it, but if I had the choice, I would go back to opening up the forum for all visitors. you can ignore ads, you can ignore hit and run questions, I dont think theyre a significant detriment to the site.1 point
