Effectron has jumped to Unreal Engine, which is not a direct alternative but I'm sure is fun for those who know how to use it. Neither will be a like for like alternative, and both will be different, but I'm going to give Blender and Houdini a try, not to plant a flag and say yay this is my new choice of software, but just to get comfortable with both. But for some oldies this is certainly the end of an era, just like years ago you could visit GreyScaleGorilla and see an emphasis on C4D tutorials, and you could come to C4DCafe and relax, now you can't. C4D will still be there if I decide to jump in for another year's sub. 3D will be fun no matter which direction you go in. As 3D Kiwi used to say, "Let's rip into it!"
  3. Wow, I'm gutted. I can't believe 98% of people wouldn't do 5 bucks every year, it's such a low amount you wouldn't even notice it. I must admit, I didn't frequent the forums as much as I used to. Since I started working for RizomUV I kinda fell off when it comes to Cinema 4D. But, I was willing to put my hand in my pocket, because this site is frankly legendary. Absolutely gutted. Thank you for all the years of work.

Goodbye everyone. I am going to keep using Cinema R20 until there is no computer that can run it anymore. Thank you all for being here all these years, passing forward and learning from each other, as best as we could.

While it was down yesterday, it seems like the forum is back online? Don't know if the orange banner on the right side is new as well? is this some kind of early revival?

Hmm, sad to hear this and just found out when i got a mail with payed subscribtion cancelation. Also sad that Maxon was not willing to shell out 10k a year to save their biggest community forum. mlon
  10. OMG- this is terrible news. This has always be been a strong resource for c4d . I have been a member for along time and now im gutted. what will happen to the website ? Can we still access all the old posts?

Honestly this will have to mark the end of me using Cinema4D. This forum and its users were essential. Very sad about this.

Thanks to everyone over the years. Learned so much from here. It's been a privilege and feel lucky to have been a member of this amazing forum. All the best! As the title of an amazing School of Motion course goes... Lights, Camera, Render! 📽️

What to say...Thanks for nice memories and helpful people. I learned a lot from this place. Our journey is at the end, but this mean another one should start. Bye friends.
  18. Toodles peeps! Have really enjoyed being a part of Core4D and it's predecessor C4D Cafe. Hope to meet some of you elsewhere on the web! Au revoir!

Goodbye all and I wish you all the best in your creative journey. But no matter where that journey takes you, I only hope that our paths cross again! Dave For some reason, the Douglas Adams reference just felt right...not sure why.

agreed. everyone else here did it for the passion/love of a software and company which has long since transformed. Just like Lightwave, however, it's still embedded somewhere in our hearts.

wait what? I think all of us who are still here have helped pay what we could for this site over the years. In return Core was developing training and small plugins to help those of us who were contributors to this site. We didn't ask for free shit. We didn't expect it. All of us were surprised and thankful for their effort to expand the site to include these extras. It's stated in this thread that Core would be shut down October 1st. We didn't expect things to start disappearing well before tomorrow's deadline. Sure we have questions and we don't like how this is happening, and the fact it's happening at all. You're gaslighting all of us with some self-righteous rant?, and saying we're acting like Maxon? Thanks for insulting all of us who had questions and comments about this site as it closes for ever. Fucking ridiculous bs. Good luck everyone else.. see you on other sites.

    Funny timing to finish with.
  24. Thanks for your reply, Unfortunately this is not a specific issue, it is a systemic issue. I expect Maxon has received hundreds of messages about errors in takes. I am asking if there is a problem with our understanding of the TAKE system, or if there are specific settings for the system to work properly, or if there is an alternative of this system, or is everyone suffering in silence with these massive bugs?

Deleting long rant. I think the only people who made money out of this venture were the folks running the website hosting company, who made out like bandits.
  26. Is this true? I always thought that Maya and Max were the most expensive apps on the market? And I agree it does seem strange that Maxon don’t have a forum… It would only help the software surely?

People, you are complaining about this and exhibit same behavior as maxon. you want forum to exists, cater to your needs, tutorials to be made, files to be available but you expect the guys behind it to work for free. they opt to close it since they can't make it and are struggling and we judge them for looking to make a living with their skill set. i did a generous donation a year ago and know for a fact who did so as well and without @Hrvoje@kingcoma and some other people who made substantial donations thios place would be long gone

Fair points. There have been comments that people don't like forums anymore, but the SideFX and Blender forums are big, healthy and thriving, especially (obviously) the latter. Though different people are obviously involved, I can't help but note that the trend is the same - all these approaches of pricing the app high, paywalling the forum, removing the scene nodes help files, Maxon having no official forum, and so on and so on, are exercises in starving the beast and smacking the hand of the users. All three of the cited apps, Houdini / C4D / Blender, have elements that require the users to make excuses for the apps shortcomings or accept apologies and explanations for where things disappoint or fall short. We know the grass is not 100% greener anywhere and the discussions have been long covered. But all this combined with the empty 2026 release does provide a good moment to take a breath and take stock. Possibly full Scene Nodes training will roll out sometime around the 10th anniversary of when they first introduced it. Not to end things on a downer but I'm reminded again there is a simple fix for users and it involves the temporary pain point of reorienting yourself and your muscle memory in front of a new app and going from there.
