  1. CPU overheating or weak or faulty PSU, most common reason when PC is shutting down. What is your PC configuration?
  2. Hi, You need to insert RS Material with environment map (hdri), into environment slot in render settings, and turn on GI. Dane
  3. Hi, Many things in C4D are still single threaded, including dynamics, simulations, particles and similar, you need high clock IPC cpu (4+ GHz), like latest Intel i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 3XXX series, in order to get higher viewport fps performance. That Xeon is good for rendering, but for things like dynamics, simulations and similar you need high IPC cpu. Dane
  4. Hi, Change texture projection to cubic instead uvw, and tweak texture scale. Dane
  5. Hi, I'm rendering with Redshift, but hardware wise, same goes for Octane. Go with 2-3 RTX 2070 Super or RTX 2080 Super cards (or one RTX 2080 Titan, and add second one later), high IPC cpu, no need for bunch of cores, speed per core is more important, and 32-64Gb of ram. Of course, if you have higher budget, you can add more cards or more ram, but this is good for start. Dane
  6. Hi, Flickering when using GI is common issue, you need to use QMC/Brute force method for GI, which will increase render times, but other solution is to light scene with couple lights, without GI, which is not always necessary. Dane
  7. Hi, Before beveling edges, always select all points of an object, right click and optimize. Dane
  8. Hi, Still supports only version 8, but it works good in most cases, didn't have any issues so far, and I'm importing .ai files on regular basis. Cheers, Dane
  9. Hi, If you are going to use Octane or Redshift, you must have NVidia card, AMD is not supported since they use CUDA for rendering. About cpu, aim for high clock/high IPC rather then bunch of cores, any 8-10-12 cpu at ~4.0+GHz will be good for Redshift or Octane. Dane
  10. Hi, Apply some blur to your shadow pass layer, it will make it more soft.
  11. Hi, Check normals, correct them if needed, and change phong tag value to 40. Dane
  12. Hi, Best would be 32-bit TIFF with alpha, or 16-bit PNG with alpha, but probably no need to go to 32-bit images, so 16-bit TIFF/PNG would give you very good quality images. Dane
  13. Hi, You can do this using voronoi fracture with push appart effector. About time speeding up, set key frames and make custom interpolation, or probably can be done also with some xpresso setup. Dane
  14. Hi, You can try Floor Generator plugin https://www.c4dzone.com/en/shop/plug-ins-17/floor-generator-294.htm Dane
  15. Hi, You can use Mesh Checker, to see is object correct or have some errors. Dane
  16. Hi, Reduce IOR index of glass material from default 1.51 to 1.01, or even lower (1.005), if you want material behind glass to be more clear and visible, without refraction deformations. Dane
  17. Here's .c4d file with some examples using twist deformer. Cheers, Dane example_c4d.c4d
  18. Hi, You can also use Twist deformer, other way to make objects/shapes like that. Dane
  19. Hi, About cpu, yes, Octane, Redshift and other GPU render engines are using cpu for some tasks, while cards are rendering, so your cpu is utilized in some %. But you can check only RTX 2080 Super in Octane settings (uncheck other card), and Octane will use/render on only RTX 2080 S. You can try to see how gaming+rendering will work, but I wouldn't recommend it. Dane
  20. Hi, Forget GTX 1080 Ti, because Octane, Redshift, and other GPU render engines already have support for RTX cores, which can speed up rendering a lot, so just stick to your RTX 2080 Super cards, which are also faster in gaming then 1080 Ti. Dane
  21. Hi, For example, when I get 3d models from client in some CAD file format, like .stp/.step, .3dm, .stl, .iges, and similar, I import them into MoI3D, setup/choose desirable polygon count with slider, and then export model to .obj or .fbx, which has nice quad mesh topology when imported to C4D.
