  1. I do a lot of 3D print modeling and there is absolutely no reason this can't be modeled in C4D and also no reason to use booleans ever for anything.
  2. O think he doesn't realize there is a command called Dissolve that does what he wants.
  3. I agree fixing other people's models, animation, whatever is awful. I can only imagine how much more difficult it must be to be a programmer trying to fix (or improve upon) someone else's code.
  4. Thanks. I can't believe I didn't know this. Another good one I didn't know about. It even works in R20!
  5. Volume meshes can not be perfectly smoothed. You have to either model it or remesh it.
  6. Oq still use my custom layout of 20 years. Why would I give that up?

    99 Polygons

Here finally is an animation of it being filled. P.S. I tried to bake an alembic file of this animation but couldn't get the bag's dynamics to bake.

Here is my official Brand 99 Poly Potato Chip Bag and Chips file submission. I hope you enjoy. File attached below. Brand99SilledPotatoChipsMV2.c4d

This is my second submission. A 99 polygon rose. Here is the file: RosePetalMV52B4b9b4.c4d

    99 Polygons

Thank you. The inspiration came from some accidental art I created once while testing the new Connect object in Cinema. Here are a couple of examples. This one uses just 5 polygons but looks like something much more. These are not for contest submission, just background. This one uses 7 polys:

Bag is 84 polys and the 15 chips are one poly each.

Here is a teaser preview of my upcoming submission. A potato chip bag with potato chips.
  13. Maybe use a tiled rope bump texture instead? Easy to find with a Google search if you don't already have any..
  14. The PolyExtrude node in Houdini has both Distance and Inset options. That's the only way I know to do it. Maybe one of the experts here will have a better answer.
  15. I thought it was three years already but I think you're right about it being only two. I don't know why it just seems longer.
  16. So an update. Houdini support kindly informed me that I should be inside a geometry node first, and what do you know that fixed it. 🍳🥴 (I knew the Tab menu was contextual to different directories, but not that it was object and node contextual.) Everything is right again in my Houdini world. Thanks everyone for helping me.
  17. Let's face it folks. If you are holding your breath waiting for Cinema nodes to amount to anything, you are going to die from lack of oxygen.
  18. As can be seen in this screen shot, it looks like labs are installed, or at least it looks that way from the labs shelf, but as you can see "Tree" does not show up when searching the tab menu.
  19. Ok, Houdini Support sent me a file with instructions on which directory to place it and now at last Indie fires up, but still without labs. Let's see if they can come up with another file to put somewhere to make that work as well.
  20. Thanks. I haven't another computer so I will happily take you up on your offer to help this weekend, though I don't know what you can do that I haven't already tried several times. Side FX support is hopeless and seem just as or more confused than I am.
  21. It is in response to an earlier message: "Please try launching the software from Program Files -> Side Effects Software ->Houdini 19.5.303 -> bin -> hindie.exe" He then said that was a mistake and to use hdanc instead. He must have gotten confused.
  22. My god. Ok, I toggled on the Render Light Geometry setting and now the HDRI shows up in my background in MPlay, but the Light Shader slot is empty by default. Does that mean that the dome light isn't providing illumination to the scene now, and if so, how do I make it so that it does?
